Contact Farmer: Do you have a question?

Clinton is a self-employed sandalwood harvester based in the Central Desert, WA. He manages and operates Kutkububba Aboriginal Corporation's (KAC) Indigenous Martu harvesting enterprise. KAC is a committed stakeholder and shareholder in Dutjahn Sandalwood Oils (DSO) and supplies DSO with high-grade, wild-harvested sandalwood from the Central Desert and native title lands. Dutjahn Sandalwood Oils (DSO) has emerged as a new, sustainable and community project based supplier of WA Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) and is backed by Dutjahn Custodians, Kutkabbuba Aboriginal Corporation and the founders of W.A. Sandalwood Plantations Pty Ltd. This special project engages some of the industry’s most experienced professionals with traditional Indigenous desert nomads who are custodians of the “Dutjahn” – the sacred sandalwood tree of the central West Australian desert. Unique in the sandalwood arenas, Dutjahn Sandalwood Oils Indigenous participants are 50% stakeholders in the distillery, selling their wood to DSO at full market price and are also beneficiaries in the profits the new venture creates. DSO, as 50% Indigenous owned company will also reinvigorate the Indigenous Certification that was pioneered in Western Australia. The profits from the oil sales are therefore shared 50/50 with the Indigenous community through projects which help to provide a better quality of life and ensure the oil value remains with those to whom the tree belongs. Recognising the value of Indigenous equity in just under a year, Dutjahn Sandalwood Oils has won the Emerging Exporter award at the State awards, and the national Emerging Exporter award in 2018.
