Kathy and Rob Henry have been farming at 'Woodrising' on the Macquarie Settlement in beautiful northern Tasmania since the 1970's. In 1974 when Rob returned home from Ag College aged 24, his father, who had raised and educated 5 children on the family farm, declared it was Rob's turn to manage the farm and Rob was let loose on the then 610 acre property. Since then, Rob and wife Kathy - a nurse and successful community leader - have worked tirelessly to transform 'Woodrising' from a dry land sheep and cereal farm to a modern, sustainable and award winning enterprise supporting high value dairy, wool, sheep meat, cattle, cropping and essential oil operations. Always conscious of environmental concerns, Rob and Kathy launched into a complete change of land use from the moment they took charge of the farm and today Woodrising is a diversified 1700 acre operation producing a variety of income streams. The Henry's are particularly passionate about growing premium essential oils and since the early 1980’s have been producing world renowned Peppermint and Fennel oils for Essential Oils of Tasmania. Both Kathy and Rob are hard working 'hands-on' farmers but they are also heavily involved in many community organisations and value giving back to their local community
